The South Side Healthy Community Organization (SSHCO) is a non-profit organization that brings together 13 healthcare organizations to build a healthcare system that prioritizes community needs, intervenes earlier, and responds better. Our model is driven by community input and aims to connect existing health organizations, increase access to care, address challenging health issues, and build health equity and stronger, healthier communities across the South Side of Chicago.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Director of Philanthropic Strategic Initiatives to develop and execute fundraising and donor relations strategies to advance the SSHCO's mission and financial sustainability. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of securing grants and donations, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to build relationships, inspire trust, and effectively engage donors, volunteers, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies and annual development plans to achieve fundraising goals and objectives.
  2. Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, corporate sponsors, foundation funders, and other key stakeholders to maximize philanthropic support.
  3. Personally manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, leading cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts to secure significant gifts and achieve annual performance metrics.
  4. Represent the organization externally, serving as a spokesperson and ambassador at community events, conferences, and donor meetings to promote awareness and support.
  5. Collaborate with the executive team and other key stakeholders to identify funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities and ensure alignment between grant activities and programmatic goals.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, public health, communications, business administration, or a related field, and a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or a related field. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of securing grants and donations, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to build relationships, inspire trust, and effectively engage donors, volunteers, and community partners.
