About the Position:

Job Summary:

The City of Roanoke, Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Fleet Maintenance Scheduler to join our team. As a key member of our fleet management department, you will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling maintenance activities for our fleet of vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and prioritize equipment repair requests from operators
  • Make preliminary diagnoses and initiate the work order process
  • Assign tasks to technicians and track work progress
  • Implement and manage a light maintenance program to ensure our fleet is running efficiently
  • Coordinate with vendors and external contractors for repairs and maintenance
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on equipment maintenance and repair
  • Provide training to staff on the use of fleet information systems

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by technical automotive training
  • One to three years of experience in skilled automotive mechanical work and supervision
  • Fleet management experience, particularly in a government setting, is preferred
  • Existing fleet certifications are a plus, but certification can be obtained within three years of hire date
