Position Overview:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) serves as a vital support partner to the Registered Nurse (RN), executing tasks as assigned by the RN.

This role involves providing direct patient care and assisting with various non-direct patient care activities.

The individual in this position is expected to uphold fundamental care and comfort standards, including assisting with bathing, grooming, and dressing patients.

This CNA is required to practice medical asepsis, uphold the dignity and privacy of each patient and their families, and respect cultural diversity in patient care.

Responsibilities may also include aiding in meal preparations while adhering to specific dietary requirements of patients.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate the ability to operate effectively in high-pressure environments, exhibiting compassion and empathy while adhering to established policies and procedures.

Candidates must ensure a welcoming and sanitary environment for patients, while also maintaining confidentiality and organization of both written and verbal health records/documents.

Additional responsibilities may encompass scheduling events and activities for patients, which can include transfers, data entry, and other clerical tasks. In this capacity, the CNA operates under the general supervision of the Manager.
Essential Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Communicate respectfully with patients, family members, visitors, and healthcare team members.
  • Maintain cleanliness of patients and their surroundings to promote a positive experience.
  • Handle and manage medical documents with care and confidentiality.
  • Assist in meal preparation according to each patient's dietary needs.
  • Accurately measure and document vital signs, height, weight, and other necessary information for RNs.
  • Properly record care provided and declined in an electronic system.
  • Follow established emergency protocols and procedures.
  • Facilitate communication between RNs and families to keep everyone informed about patient conditions.
  • Collect, test, and label laboratory samples as required by RNs for each patient.
  • Adhere to assigned restorative programs and therapies as directed by RNs or other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications:
  • Current Maryland Board of Nursing CNA License.
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience in adult and pediatric nursing.
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications.
  • Required vaccinations (COVID, Hepatitis B, etc.).
  • Background checks and Tuberculosis testing.
  • Compassionate and caring disposition.
