Seeking a Postpartum Registered Nurse specializing in Couplet Care for Mother and Baby
Location: Bethesda, Maryland
Compensation & Benefits:
- 10 days of Paid Time Off (PTO), 7 paid sick days, and 11 paid holidays

Required Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years as a Registered Nurse, with at least 2 years focused on high-risk obstetrical patients and comprehensive postpartum care.
- In-depth understanding of normal and abnormal newborn development, applying this knowledge in nursing care for infants up to 7 days old.
- Familiarity with female anatomy, common gynecological procedures, and their implications for obstetrical nursing care.
- Proven ability to identify and respond to critical signs and symptoms in emergency situations, ensuring timely communication of vital lab or diagnostic results to physicians.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an Associate or Bachelor of Nursing program accredited by the National League of Nursing (NLN).
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Completion of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Certification in S.T.A.B.L.E.
- Valid, unrestricted RN license in at least one U.S. state or territory.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver care to both normal and high-risk postpartum patients, recognizing and responding to maternal and newborn emergencies.
- Evaluate patient readiness for rooming-in, transfer to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), or discharge.
- Monitor and support mothers and newborns during the immediate postpartum period.
- Prioritize patient care based on essential needs and available resources, including time, personnel, and equipment.
- Exhibit strong patient assessment skills, utilizing the nursing process to guide professional practice. Ensure proper preparation for treatments and procedures, including surgical interventions.
Skills and Procedures:
- Proficient in operating and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as IV infusion pumps and cardiac monitors.
- Manage essential equipment for stable newborn care, interpreting and responding to data from devices.
- Safely administer prescribed medications, including IV drugs specific to pregnancy and neonatal care, while monitoring patient responses.
- Administer and monitor oxygen therapy, ensuring appropriate responses to patient data.
- Identify potential post-anesthetic complications and intervene as necessary.
