Job Responsibilities:

The following outlines the primary responsibilities associated with this position. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary:

  1. Manage renewal underwriting with minimal oversight from an underwriter.
  2. Clearly articulate liability and other coverage options to clients and potential clients.
  3. Provide guidance to Underwriting Clerks and Policy Typists.
  4. Assess policies, endorsements, audits, and cancellations, addressing discrepancies and implementing necessary changes.
  5. Conduct rating assessments for both new and renewal business.
  6. Oversee all documentation related to accounts.
  7. Process policy servicing requests, including endorsements, audits, and other company requests.
  8. Invoice and manage new business and renewal binders, along with premium-bearing endorsements and cancellations, adhering to internal guidelines.
  9. Initiate new submissions in the clearance system, following established protocols.
  10. Generate cancellation and non-renewal notifications in compliance with statutory and contractual obligations.
  11. Maintain underwriting files for accounts where policies are not issued, in accordance with company procedures.
  12. Keep the pending/suspense system updated as per established practices.
  13. Ensure account files are maintained in line with company policy.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

  1. A college degree with a focus on business or equivalent professional experience.
  2. A minimum of one year of experience in wholesale insurance.
  3. State-specific insurance license is required.
  4. Experience as an Underwriting Clerk or three years in general insurance roles.
  5. Ability to comprehend and analyze essential components of insurance policies.
  6. Knowledge of commercial multi-line underwriting and rating processes.
  7. Proficiency in using company automation tools, including Windows, Delphi, Word, DocuCorp, and Rackley ISO Rating Software.
  8. Capability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  9. Teamwork skills are essential.
  10. Current knowledge of the insurance industry is required.
  11. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  12. Willingness to work extended hours when necessary.

Compensation:

The annual base salary for this position is competitive.

Benefits Overview:

Eligible employees working 20 hours or more per week can access a range of benefits, which may vary by division. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, and tax-advantaged savings accounts, among others. All regular employees can contribute to a 401(k) savings plan, with company matching contributions available after one year of service. Employees are entitled to a minimum of 10 days of vacation and 10 sick days annually, along with paid holidays.
