Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Public Works Technician I to join our team at the City of Corpus Christi. As a key member of our infrastructure support team, you will play a critical role in maintaining the city's streets, sidewalks, and other public infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the repair and maintenance of public streets, sidewalks, and other infrastructure
  • Direct traffic control at job sites using flagging, cones, barrels, and barricades
  • Set up and remove traffic control devices at job sites
  • Load and unload materials
  • Conduct flagging for traffic control
  • Clean job sites and devices
  • Perform labor activities including loading and unloading tools and materials, shoveling, sweeping, raking, smoothing, and tamping of various materials
  • Operate city vehicles to support moving crews and equipment
  • Use small hand tools and power equipment to complete job tasks
  • Perform cleaning and general maintenance on equipment and vehicles
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • No prior experience required
  • Certification in Traffic Control and Flagging (acquired within 6 months of hire)
  • Certification in Confine Space (acquired within 6 months of hire)
  • Certification in Trenching and Shoring (acquired within 6 months of hire)
  • Valid driver's license
