Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee our logistics operations in a dynamic, multi-modal transportation environment. This role is crucial in maintaining our high safety standards while driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with clients regarding scheduling and prioritization of barge, rail, and truck services, ensuring prompt and effective resolution of inquiries and issues.
- Recruit, train, and recognize talented team members, fostering a culture of performance and accountability.
- Collaborate with staff to establish clear objectives and expectations, providing constructive feedback to enhance workplace performance.
- Ensure all team members are fit for duty and adhere to safety protocols.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with union representatives to enhance operational efficiency and service quality.
- Supervise the upkeep of material handling and mechanical equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards.
- Manage the replacement and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems and structures.
- Keep accurate records of plant operations and maintenance activities.
- Oversee the safe planning and execution of operational activities, including compliance with regulatory standards.
- Demonstrate leadership in safety practices, addressing unsafe conditions and behaviors proactively.
- Participate in investigations of incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including those from OSHA and DOT.
- Contribute to other duties that align with Travero's core values.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management or a related field.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience or equivalent leadership roles.
Skills and Competencies
- Proven leadership capabilities with a focus on team development.
- Experience working with labor unions is preferred.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and DOT compliance is advantageous.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Financial acumen, including budgeting and basic accounting skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in information technology applications and software.
