Type of Announcement: This position is exclusively for Colorado state residents.

Primary Responsibilities:
This role involves verifying, classifying, auditing, and recording entries into the Statewide accounting system, CORE (Colorado Operations Resource Engine), in accordance with applicable fiscal rules and generally accepted accounting principles.

Key Duties Include:
  • Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data within the CORE system;
  • Processing vendor invoices and related documentation to generate payment requests;
  • Validating Accounts Payable transactions while adhering to established accounting protocols;
  • Reviewing employee travel expense reimbursements for compliance with fiscal regulations;
  • Matching Accounts Payable documentation with transaction authorizations, receiving reports, and vendor invoices to create an auditable package;
  • Reconciling Accounts Payable transactions with vendor statements and inquiries;
  • Classifying Accounts Payable transactions according to agency-defined categories;
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of technical accounting experience is required. This experience must be detailed in the work experience section of your application.

Substitutions: College coursework in finance, accounting, or related fields may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Required Competencies:
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities;
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively;
  • Proficient in computer applications;
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with the CORE system;
  • Proficiency in 10-key data entry;
  • Knowledge of accounting principles;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Suite;
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be at least 21 years old;
  • Possess a valid driver's license;
  • Have no felony convictions;
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
