Job Title: Risk Manager- Edward J. Healey Center

Job Summary:

The Risk Manager collaborates with the Director of Corporate Risk Management and the Skilled Nursing Center Leadership to develop a culture of safety and risk mitigation strategies. This position provides guidance and direction in identifying opportunities for system improvement and promotes a just and reporting culture for sustainable system improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively evaluate areas of organizational risk and implement strategies to promote patient and staff safety.
  • Promote the occurrence reporting process and facilitate prevention initiatives.
  • Direct the investigation of all potentially compensable events.
  • Provide strategic oversight of risk management workgroup meetings and facilitate bidirectional organizational communication.
  • Disseminate lessons learned and process improvement plans.
  • Facilitate the reporting, investigation, analysis, and corrective action planning on medical errors and near misses.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of state and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff and medical staff to direct and coordinate risk and safety initiatives.
  • Manage the production, analysis, and presentation of relevant safety/risk data and activities to leadership and key individuals.
  • Provide risk management education for new employee orientation and annual risk management training for staff.
  • Meet regularly with leadership to provide detailed reports on all serious incidents, potential claim events, and risk-related issues.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree required. Bachelors Degree preferred. Healthcare related field preferred.
  • Two (2) years experience at the Registered Nurse level required. Two (2) years experience in risk management preferred. Two (2) years experience in long term care preferred.
  • Basic Life Support certification required for Registered Nurse. Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) and/or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) preferred.
  • State of Florida, Registered Nurse license required.
