Role Overview:


The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team, based in Atlanta, Georgia, is in search of a Regional Environmental Manager. The selected candidate will report directly to the Director of Regional Environment, Health, and Safety.

This position entails the execution and coordination of policies, programs, and procedures aimed at safeguarding and enhancing the highest standards of environmental stewardship within the region, ensuring adherence to all relevant environmental laws, corporate standards, and other obligations.

In addition to serving as a strategic ally to the sites, this role will establish the strategic direction for the region concerning compliance and sustainability initiatives.

The incumbent will also oversee all facets of the regional compliance and management system audit processes.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Responsibilities

Act as the technical authority for environmental compliance issues throughout the region, including the interpretation of applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Assist facilities with inspections and formal communications to regulatory bodies in collaboration with the legal team.


Assess the regulatory environment and set strategic priorities for sites based on risk assessments, compliance trends, anticipated regulatory shifts, and agency priorities.

Identify training requirements based on regional compliance patterns.


Provide technical guidance for corrective measures in response to violations and deviations from permit stipulations across all environmental domains (air, stormwater, wastewater, waste management, spill prevention, SARA/EPCRA, etc.).

Support facility expansions and related permitting processes in conjunction with the Capital Projects EHS team, including transition points and implementation.

Lead regional compliance initiatives, encompassing Title V, MACT, RCRA, NPDES, Industrial User Programs, Spill Prevention, and TSCA CDR.

Assist sites in maintaining certifications with standards such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI).


Develop an internal audit framework to fulfill the requirements of applicable standards, including the creation of an auditor pool, auditor training, development of audit materials, and coordination of audits.

Act as a liaison with external auditors for scheduling, resolution of significant nonconformities, and other audit-related matters.


Establish fundamental requirements for sites that do not certify to ISO standards, including compliance obligations, risk assessments, recordkeeping, corrective actions, and document management.


Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related scientific discipline.

A minimum of years' experience in EHS or a related field.

Requires comprehensive knowledge of federal environmental regulations and the implementation of programs to align with these standards.

Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written).

Ability to foster relationships across all organizational levels.

Demonstrated leadership capabilities to guide, mentor, and develop personnel to achieve individual, plant, and corporate goals.

Must be adaptable and capable of functioning in a dynamic environment, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.

Proficiency in software applications, including Microsoft Office, and a quick aptitude for new technologies.

Subject matter expertise in Title V, RCRA, and CWA.

Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications:
A Master's Degree or equivalent experience in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related scientific field.

Experience in the manufacturing sector is highly desirable.

Five years of experience in the aluminum industry.

Familiarity with the aluminum manufacturing process.

Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
