Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will collaborate with a multi-disciplined engineering team to design custom automation machinery. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Translating customer requirements into design specifications and evaluating design feasibility
  • Providing programming for PLCs, safety systems, and HMI displays
  • Sourcing and programming motors, drives, actuators, robots, vision systems, sensors, and servo controls
  • Responsible for full system programming, testing, debugging, commissioning, installation, service, and upgrades
  • Executing complete electrical designs, creating professional electrical schematics, and panel layouts
  • Creating and maintaining detailed bills of materials for accuracy
  • Writing technical manuals for manufacturing personnel and customers
  • Maintaining schedule milestones
  • Staying up-to-date with leading-edge technology
  • Contributing to continuous improvement efforts across the entire organization
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven programming skills in PLCs, HMI displays, and safety systems
  • System-level approach to complete machine programming with a high focus on recovery from start to finish
  • Experience in robotics, automation systems, vision systems, proximity and photo sensors, servo controls, and other related technologies
  • Competent skills with PCs, networking, device communications, integration, and design
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical component selection and panel layout design, including materials, safety, and labeling practices
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for working with customers and team members
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, management, customers, and the general public
  • Must be a self-starter, organized, and dedicated, with good record-keeping skills
  • Knowledge in mechanical mechanisms, motion, and assembly
Education

We are looking for candidates with a BSEE or BSEET with 5+ years' experience in industrial automation and controls development and commissioning. ASEE or ASEET with 10+ years' experience is also acceptable. Candidates with other degrees and appropriate experience will be considered.
