As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy resilience within the Department of Defense. Your expertise in energy system evaluation will be essential in crafting innovative solutions that seamlessly integrate with complex electrical infrastructures. This role is crucial for identifying weaknesses in critical mission-supporting systems and developing energy resilience strategies that not only enhance operational reliability but also promote the adoption of carbon-free technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate energy vulnerabilities at military installations and propose comprehensive projects addressing electrical, mechanical, water, fuel, and communication systems.
- Conduct assessments of energy infrastructures, focusing on their condition, quality, and potential vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement energy resilience projects that align with mission requirements.
- Provide expert recommendations for the optimization and enhancement of energy systems.
- Engage in travel to various military sites, contributing to on-the-ground evaluations and project implementations.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Proficiency in power systems design and engineering methodologies.
- Familiarity with energy infrastructure, including electrical transmission and distribution networks, microgrids, and renewable energy technologies such as solar and wind.
- Strong analytical skills for requirement development and project analysis related to complex energy systems.
- Ability to obtain necessary security clearances.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in assessing energy infrastructure conditions.
- Background in the design, installation, or maintenance of electrical systems.
- Knowledge of relevant standards, including NFPA 70 and IEEE.
- Effective communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- EIT Certification is a plus.
Security Clearance:
Selected candidates will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information.
