Position Overview

The Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant (RTA) plays a vital role in supporting licensed occupational therapists in implementing patient treatment plans, adhering to both federal regulations and state-specific practice standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts resident assessments as permitted by state regulations, without providing interpretations.
  • Assists patients in executing rehabilitative exercises and activities as specified in treatment plans developed collaboratively with occupational therapists.
  • Observes and encourages individuals to ensure proper execution of activities.
  • Documents patient progress for review by the supervising occupational therapist.
  • May aid in scheduling patient appointments, managing phone communications, restocking supplies, and completing necessary paperwork, including insurance forms.
  • Provides educational support to patients, caregivers, and families in alignment with individual care plans.
  • Completes all required documentation in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree from an AOTA accredited program.
  • Licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) if mandated by state law.

Additional Requirements

  • Engages in company-sponsored training to ensure the proper handling of patient health information.
  • Ensures adherence to company policies and compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Agrees to uphold and communicate privacy guidelines concerning the confidentiality of patient health information.
