About the Role

Meade Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced Substation Engineer to join our design team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical substations and high/medium voltage electrical distribution systems for large-scale data center campuses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Independently drive physical designs for electrical substations throughout the design and construction phases, including new construction and upgrades/retrofits.
  • Electrical Distribution: Design high and medium voltage electrical distribution systems for large-scale data center campuses.
  • Document Production: Oversee the production of one-line diagrams, conceptual designs, plan-section drawings, foundation, grounding, specifications, and any additional drawings needed to complete a comprehensive set of construction documents.
  • Collaboration: Work amongst a cross-discipline design team, owners, and contractors to develop drawings and specifications.
  • Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with external vendors, internal design teams, and manufacturers.
  • Equipment Selection: Major equipment selection and scheduling.
  • Quality Assurance: Lead QA/QC process and sign off on engineering documents.
  • Testing and Commissioning: Perform substation testing and commissioning as needed.
  • Proposal Development: Develop proposals (scope of work, estimate, etc.)
Requirements
  • 7+ years of Professional Substation Engineering design experience designing high/medium voltage power distribution, physical design, transmission line design, etc.
  • Valid P.E. license and Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience working independently, managing priorities, and providing mentorship to junior staff.
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes.
  • Ability to think strategically and demonstrate flexibility in order to achieve long-range objectives.
  • Self-motivated, comfortable with ambiguity, and motivated to work as a team and lead others.
  • Top-notch organization, attention to detail, combined with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, BlueBeam, BIM, and Revit.
