Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Dining Services Coordinator, the Culinary Support Specialist plays a crucial role in all aspects of food service, including but not limited to: meal order collection, food preparation, cooking, tray assembly, dishwashing, and maintaining cleanliness of kitchen facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of food and beverages as instructed.
  • Prepare all food items to order, adhering to standard recipes and time constraints.
  • Prepare assigned items based on the Prep/Pull Sheet.
  • Retrieve food and supplies from storage areas.
  • Assemble trays and serve meals as required.
  • Deliver meal trays and special requests during service hours.
  • Cook, grill, bake, and microwave various food items.
  • Measure and combine ingredients according to recipes and menu guidelines.
  • Wash and sanitize raw food products.
  • Utilize kitchen appliances for food preparation tasks.
  • Prepare and distribute snacks and supplements at designated times.
  • Conduct pre-meal setup activities.
  • Label, date, and store all food items appropriately.
  • Review tray cards and production counts for accuracy.
  • Participate in tray line service.
  • Support the Cook Supervisor as needed, including filling in when required.
  • Restock items on the service line as per specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and safe cooking environment.
  • Perform dishwashing duties for all kitchen equipment.
  • Execute cleaning tasks in various kitchen areas as directed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of refrigeration units and storage areas.
  • Keep accurate records related to sanitation and inventory.
  • Exercise caution when handling cleaning chemicals and solutions.
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions.
  • Work flexible hours to meet operational needs, including potential overtime.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance as per organizational requirements.
  • Familiarity with hospice care principles is preferred.
  • Previous experience in food service is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food preparation techniques is desired.
Skills
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficient in basic arithmetic and able to compute rates and ratios.
  • Language Skills: Capable of reading and interpreting business documents and effectively communicating with team members and external parties.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Proficient in English, self-motivated, flexible, and able to work collaboratively within a team.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment: This role requires regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity, with the ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Visual acuity for close and distance vision is necessary. This overview may vary by specific roles and departments, reflecting the unique demands of positions within our organization.
