Key Details:
- Salary: The minimum base salary is $66,000 for the Senior Consultant level, with the potential for an annual bonus. Salary and title may vary based on education, knowledge, and experience.
This role may require occasional overnight travel. The start date is flexible.
Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise as a qualitative bat specialist with experience in conducting bat acoustic surveys and identifying federally listed, under review, and candidate bat species, including the Indiana bat, northern long-eared bat, tricolored bat, and little brown bat, as well as western species such as the western long-eared Myotis, fringed Myotis, Townsend's big-eared bat, big free-tailed bat, and Mexican free-tailed bat. Proficiency with acoustic analysis software (e.g., Kaleidoscope, Analook, AnaBat Insight, SonoBat) is essential. The successful candidate will also oversee and execute bat and wildlife-related studies, including presence/probable absence surveys for threatened and endangered bats, NABat monitoring surveys, WEG compliant acoustic activity surveys, pre-construction and post-construction avian and bat surveys at wind energy projects, habitat assessments for rare species, and the preparation/review of technical reports on survey findings.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct qualitative review and labeling of eastern and western bat species.
- Analyze acoustic data collected from multiple projects and technicians to ensure functionality and assist in troubleshooting field issues.
- Review bat calls using bat acoustic analysis software (e.g., Kaleidoscope, Analook, AnaBat Insight, SonoBat).
- Contribute to proposal writing and report preparation for bat-specific studies.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess the following qualifications:
- Proven experience in visually identifying either eastern federally-listed and candidate bat species or western sensitive bat species through acoustic sonograms.
- A minimum of a master's degree in biology or a related natural resource field.
- Familiarity with current auto-identification software and acoustic detectors is required. Experience with SonoBat, Kaleidoscope, and Titley software is preferred.
- Experience in designing and implementing wildlife field studies, particularly for bats.
