Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist

The Speech-Language Pathologist is a crucial member of the healthcare team, responsible for implementing speech/language pathology services to patients with communication disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates patients' communication skills, oral-motor function, cognitive status, memory, and problem-solving abilities, as well as hearing and speech fluency.
  • Conducts assessments of home environments to identify equipment needs related to speech/language function.
  • Develops plans of care in collaboration with physicians to address speech, language, hearing, and other functional disorders.
  • Administers speech therapy programs using specialized techniques and equipment.
  • Provides education to patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on their roles in speech therapy.
  • Recommends communication devices and aids as necessary.
  • Refers patients to audiologists for hearing tests when required.
  • Prepares and submits clinical progress summary notes based on goal attainment.
  • Instructs patients, families/caregivers, and healthcare staff on treatment regimes as needed.
  • Performs additional duties to facilitate delivery of speech-language pathology services.
  • Identifies patient and family/caregiver needs for other services and refers accordingly.
  • Maintains professional standards and clinical competency in speech-language pathology practice and theory.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned or necessary.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Meets education and experience requirements for a Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology.
  • Holds a degree from an accredited school of Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Current licensure or certification as a Speech Language Pathologist in the state of employment.
  • Prior professional experience in speech-language pathology preferred.
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participates in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification (if applicable).
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable).
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Meets federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Completes new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understands patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Effective communication skills and proficiency in English are required.
  • Computer proficiency is essential.
  • Age 18 or older.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
