Job Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize analytical and engineering principles to evaluate and verify products and processes, while also formulating and executing quality enhancement strategies.
  • Establish and uphold essential process controls for New Product Development Projects, encompassing all facets of PPAP using AIAG core tools.
  • Develop and maintain an APQP master schedule, ensuring all project milestones are met.
  • Engage with clients regarding all aspects of Quality and APQP.
  • Lead the effective use and upkeep of core tools (PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, PPAP, SOPs, etc.).
  • Guarantee that control plans and related documentation are effectively implemented and sustained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Design and maintain measurement methods to ensure parts comply with customer specifications, including MSA, GR&R, SPC, linking back to FMEA and Control Plan.
  • Utilize CMM/Laser Technologies for part measurement, collaborating with the quality team.
  • Analyze process capability data, identify deficiencies, and collaborate with the team to address these gaps.
  • Act as the primary contact for all quality-related issues within assigned departments, ensuring prompt and effective resolutions.
  • Conduct RCCA investigations employing standard tools (8D, Ishikawa, 5 Whys, etc.) and support the execution of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain direct communication with clients and conduct site visits as required.

Work Schedule: This position is exempt from overtime and primarily operates during day shift hours, typically requiring eight or more hours per day, five or more days per week based on business needs.

Qualifications:

  • Expertise in APQP utilizing AIAG core tools.
  • Extensive experience as a quality engineer within the automotive sector, with a strong emphasis on APQP.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite: MS Word, MS Excel, and Project.
  • Statistical knowledge for trend analysis using Mini-Tab or similar statistical software.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Strong understanding of technical drawings, including GD&T.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and perform well under pressure with changing deadlines, while consistently delivering high-quality results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to assess the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to corrective actions.
  • Willingness to work onsite at the manufacturing facility daily and travel to customer and supplier locations as necessary.
  • Must be a US person as defined by ITAR/EAR.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of heat-treating processes.
  • Basic knowledge of surface treating processes, such as powder coating.
  • Familiarity with ASTM industry standards.
  • Understanding of Six Sigma terminology and methodologies.
  • Experience with Polyworks software.
  • Knowledge of automotive standards such as IATF 16949 and ISO second-party auditor preferred.
  • Strong discipline in 8D methodology and problem-solving techniques.
