Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician specializing in Core Analysis to become part of our Exploration and Production team. This role presents an excellent opportunity to develop a diverse career within the Assurance, Testing, Inspection, and Certification sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and log incoming items for testing.
- Transport test samples to the designated staging area.
- Monitor supply availability for testing processes and communicate needs to Laboratory Management.
- Prepare samples and quality control specimens, standardize reagents and solutions, and calibrate necessary testing equipment.
- Conduct testing of samples and quality control specimens following established methodologies.
- Retrieve cored materials in the field, manage core handling processes, and determine fluid saturation while measuring petrophysical properties.
- Collect fluid samples (gas, oil, water) from the field.
- Verify and communicate results, ensuring accurate entries in logs, control charts, calibration records, and laboratory worksheets.
- Maintain documentation, equipment, and workspaces in an organized manner.
- Assist in training less experienced team members.
- Perform all responsibilities while adhering to the Company's Safety, Quality, Ethics, and Environmental Management policies.
Qualifications for Success:
- A High School diploma (or GED) with coursework in science and mathematics; college-level geosciences courses are preferred.
- Entry-level position; prior laboratory experience in core analysis is advantageous.
- Basic mathematics proficiency and a willingness to learn practical job aspects.
- Physical capability to perform required tasks, including heavy lifting and potential fieldwork.
- Commitment to safety while handling various materials and chemicals.
- Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
- Proficiency in Excel and Word for recording and processing lab data.
- A positive attitude and ability to handle job pressure and long hours.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with diverse individuals.
