Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and test new electrical protection relays and controls
  • Troubleshoot and repair existing electrical protection and control systems
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair LV and MV breakers, switchgear, and CT/PT circuits
  • Assist the engineering and operations teams with new equipment commissioning
  • Assist the engineering team with the creation of as-built protection/control schematics
  • Support existing power generation fleets, compression stations, and other operational sites
  • Document equipment test procedures and results
  • Provide technical support to the remote operations center as needed
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of ten years' experience in the power generation/distribution industry
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a relay technician
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical breakers, switchgear, CT/PT circuits, and power transformers
  • Prefer experience with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories' (SEL) Relay product line
  • Significant experience with Medium Voltage switchgear and distribution systems
  • Field experience of troubleshooting electrical protection relay logic, control wiring, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • College degree and/or coursework in an engineering or technical field
  • Experience with generator controllers (CAT EMCP, DEIF, Deep Sea, DI.ANE, etc.)
  • Experience with industrial PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Rockwell, etc.)
  • Experience with SEL RTACs and/or SEL PowerMax
  • Experience with Power Management Systems
  • Experience with the integration of industrial SCADA systems
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) and/or other relevant codes and standards
  • Familiarity with NETA commissioning and maintenance testing standards
