Job Summary:The Diesel Mechanic/Service Technician will be responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel trucks and associated equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This includes performing regular preventative servicing, inspecting and testing equipment, diagnosing malfunctions, and making repairs as needed.
Key Responsibilities:- Repair and maintain diesel trash trucks, cabs, and trailers, as well as other company vehicles and equipment.
- Perform regular preventative servicing, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, and other maintenance tasks.
- Inspect and test equipment at prescribed intervals or upon malfunction or breakdown.
- Diagnose malfunctions, disassemble, inspect, and replace worn or broken parts as required.
- Perform repairs to meet standards set by the Department of Transportation for motor vehicle inspections and safety standards.
- Test-drive repaired equipment on-site and may drive off-site if CDL licensed.
- Use hoists, winches, lifts, gauges, drills, grinders, and hand tools specialized to the mechanical auto/truck trade.
- Keep service records and account for time and parts used.
- Perform limited welding, bodywork, and repainting as necessary to maintain equipment.
- Review Vehicle Condition Reports and make repairs as needed.
- Frequently works in a crouched position or on back lying on floor or mechanic's dolly beneath vehicle.
- Subjected to dust, dirt, wet conditions, all types of weather, and grease.
- Must have own set of basic mechanics hand tools.
- Requires a regular valid driver's license, a CDL, and state inspection license is a plus.
- Willingness to accept night and/or weekend emergency service calls.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
3:00pm - 1:30am
