Job Title: Healthcare Surveyor 3 Nursing

Join the NYS Department of Health as a Healthcare Surveyor 3 Nursing and play a critical role in ensuring the safety and quality of healthcare facilities in New York State.

Job Summary:

The Healthcare Surveyor 3 Nursing will lead, conduct, and participate in federal and state surveillance activities at hospitals, dialysis facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, clinics, and other acute care settings to determine compliance with federal and state regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare Statements of Deficiency using Principles of Documentation
  • Review and approve Plans of Correction within required timeframes
  • Review facility policy and procedures for Certificate of Need
  • Conduct onsite pre-opening surveys for licensure
Requirements:
  • Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State
  • Three years of post-licensure, specialized professional administrative or professional clinical experience
  • A bachelor's degree in nursing may substitute for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience
  • A master's degree in nursing may substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional experience as an RN in an acute care setting
  • Familiarity with the hospital surveillance process and State and Federal Laws and Regulations
