Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cytotechnologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing moderate and high complexity testing, analyzing and reviewing test results, and ensuring specimen integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform clinical laboratory testing competently, utilizing technical skills and abilities.
  • Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting, and perform all tests in moderate and high complexity testing.
  • Maintain records of patient results and understand and operate test systems proficiently.
  • Ability to troubleshoot test systems and take appropriate action where indicated.
  • Utilize job knowledge, judgment, and problem-solving skills to ensure quality of laboratory services.
  • Follow established policies and procedures for quality control performance and documentation.
  • Perform and document scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Identify problems which may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and take appropriate action, including supervisor notification if indicated.
  • Understand and follow all safety, infection control, and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen guidelines.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance programs and participate in the laboratory's in-service education program.
Qualifications
  • Medical Laboratory Technologist License from NYS Department of Education as a Cytotechnologist.
  • Department of Education (ASCP examination eligible).
  • Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Technology.
