Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Team Leader to join our team at the Virginia Industries for the Blind. As a Production Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the production process, ensuring timely delivery of orders, and maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble, prepare, and complete various textile products for production using industrial sewing machines.
  • Check in-process products for quality defects to ensure all completed products meet 100% quality standards.
  • Cut fabric for all types of production on time.
  • Work with production supervisors to complete daily production goals based on delivery schedules.
  • Assist in counting and storage of materials for safety stock.
Requirements
  • Ability to operate industrial sewing machines.
  • Ability to cut fabrics using manual and electrical devices.
  • Good hand/foot coordination.
  • Ability to correct errors and work independently.
  • Ability to adjust production decisions under tight deadlines.
  • Long periods of sitting or standing with mild lifting, bending, and stretching.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Several years of experience with textile, sewing, cutting, and fabrication.
Special Requirements

The Virginia Industries for the Blind is an AbilityOne Program participating agency, affiliated with National Industries for the Blind. As such, VIB is legally required to fill at least 75% of its direct labor positions with people who qualify as legally blind. An individual whose central visual acuity does not exceed 20/200 in the better eye with correcting lenses, or whose visual acuity is greater than 20/200 but is accompanied by a limitation in the fields of vision such that the widest diameter of the visual subtends an angle no greater than 20 degrees is considered legally blind.
