Job Overview

San Mateo County Parks is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to serve as an Environmental Education Coordinator for the Coastside Naturalist program.

Job Description

This role involves working closely with park staff and volunteers to develop and implement educational programs, events, and activities that promote environmental awareness and appreciation. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging content, building partnerships with local organizations, and delivering high-quality programs that cater to diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead educational programs, workshops, and events that align with the department's goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with park rangers, volunteers, and community partners to create effective outreach strategies
  • Create engaging content for social media platforms, including text, images, and videos
  • Maintain accurate records of program participation, attendance, and feedback
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental education, biology, ecology, or a related field
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in environmental education, outdoor recreation, or a related field
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
Benefits

The County of San Mateo offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience, plus excellent benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
