Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Anesthesiologist to join our team at the Providence VA Healthcare System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality anesthesiology services to eligible beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Responsibilities:
* Provide comprehensive clinical anesthesiology services, including patients undergoing orthopedic surgery, major vascular, thoracic, plastic, ENT, urologic, gynecologic, general surgery, colorectal, and ophthalmologic procedures.
* Follow established medication policies and procedures.
* Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Anesthesiology clinical or surgical patients.
* Provide clinical care to patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal, and radiological suites.
* Provide primary coverage for all patients in the surgical intensive care, short-stay unit, acute and chronic pain management services, diagnostic transesophageal echocardiography for medical and surgical patients, and emergency airway management.
* Provide consultative services at the patient's bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and, in the clinic, setting if the patient can report to the outpatient clinic.
Requirements:
* Current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property.
* Board Certified /Board Eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) and be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency, HRE, and VA.
* At least 5 years of experience.
Work Schedule:
* Regular Weekday Coverage consists of operating room (OR) coverage 7:00am-5:30pm.
* On-call contracted physicians must be available for emergency airway management and emergent OR cases.
* On-call contracted physicians must be available within 15 minutes by phone and on-site, within 30 minutes.
