Company Overview: The California Department of Public Health is committed to protecting and improving the health of all Californians. We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our team in Prenatal Screening Data Scientist.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.

Job Description:

  • We are looking for a Data Scientist to support the California Department of Public Health's mission and strategic plan by performing data support duties for prenatal screening implementation, evaluation, and epidemiological research in the Program Development and Evaluation Section.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with data retrieval, management, and analysis of complex large relational datasets using SAS and SQL, as well as producing and managing complex descriptive data reports using advanced data visualization techniques.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or related field.
  • Strong training in statistical methods and epidemiological study design.
  • Experience with clinical or public health investigation, program evaluation, disease screening, and/or disease surveillance data collection.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid training in epidemiological study design, public health project conduction, and/or clinical data quality control.
