Position Overview

Application Process
Application materials will be collected for consideration in developing and/or teaching undergraduate mathematics courses aligned with departmental instructional requirements.

The successful candidate must possess the necessary authorization to work in the U.S. prior to employment commencement.

Regular Lecturer Responsibilities:
Part-time lecturers are expected to instruct up to six credit hours, while full-time lecturers may teach up to twelve credit hours of undergraduate mathematics courses each semester. A commitment to teaching excellence is essential.

100% - Deliver instruction for all scheduled class meetings. Create assignments, administer assessments, evaluate student submissions, provide constructive feedback, and assign grades. Maintain regular office hours for student consultations and be available for additional appointments as needed. Participate in instructor meetings and adhere to departmental, college, and university policies.

Online Lecturer and Course Developer Responsibilities:
Part-time online lecturers are expected to teach up to six credit hours, and full-time lecturers up to twelve credit hours of undergraduate mathematics courses each semester. A strong dedication to teaching is required.

100% - Provide instruction throughout the course duration. Manage the course management platform, develop assignments, create exams, evaluate student work, provide feedback, and assign grades. Collaborate with the Center for Online and Distance Learning for exam scheduling. Maintain regular office hours, both in-person and online, for student support and respond to inquiries promptly. Follow departmental guidelines for online courses as communicated by the associate chair or course coordinator.

Some roles may involve designing an online course for the department or College Online Programs. Collaborate with instructional design staff to ensure course alignment with departmental standards and complete the design process within specified deadlines.

Required Qualifications:
Evaluation of qualifications will be based on (1) work experience and educational background in the application letter, (2) accomplishments and productivity detailed in the CV, and (3) information from professional references.

  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field with a strong mathematics component.
  • Prior teaching experience in Mathematics at the college or university level.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous teaching experience in Mathematics at the University of Kansas.
