Job Title: Planning Specialist

Veolia North America is seeking a skilled Planning Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for planning and scheduling transmission and distribution operations, ensuring seamless integration and efficient execution of field work processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive plans and schedules for field operations, including maintenance, repair, and construction activities.
  • Coordinate with various departments, such as engineering, operations, and customer service, to ensure efficient scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Prioritize and assign work orders based on urgency, resource availability, and operational requirements.
  • Manage and allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, materials, and vehicles, to ensure efficient field operations.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure the timely availability of necessary materials and supplies.
  • Monitor resource utilization and make adjustments as needed to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Act as a liaison between field crews, supervisors, and other departments, facilitating effective communication and coordination.
  • Coordinate with external agencies, contractors, and utility providers to ensure seamless operations and minimize disruptions.
  • Communicate project updates, schedules, and any changes or delays to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to water utility operations, including environmental regulations and safety standards.
  • Obtain necessary permits and approvals for field operations, such as excavation permits, road closures, and utility locates.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for compliance purposes.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Education or experience with work planning, materials/supplies procurement, and/or inventory logistics is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5-years related work in water utility or similar operational settings is preferred.
  • Well-rounded knowledge of water utility operations maintenance, distribution, supply, and treatment work and materials used is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, and drawings is required.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing applications is required.
  • Knowledge of inventory system & control practices is required.
  • Experience with Maintenance Management System is preferred.
  • Valid state driver's license is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
