Job Overview
LMI Consulting, LLC is in search of a Junior Technology Engineer to spearhead the planning and execution of testing and evaluation initiatives for our clients in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Candidates must possess the capability to secure a government security clearance.
This role is based in New York, NY, and offers the flexibility of partial remote work, with travel to client sites as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning and execution of testing, evaluation, and assessment tasks for both developmental and commercially available systems, including radio frequency (RF) sensors, communication devices, wireless and IoT technologies, mesh networks, AR/VR systems, and AI/ML-enabled solutions.
- Collaborate with clients to discern and interpret operational needs to determine the type of evaluation required and the specific data to be gathered.
- Coordinate resources, facilities, and equipment necessary for testing activities.
- Formulate experimental test plans, including relevant procedures, limits, and instrumentation.
- Manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with quality standards.
- Conduct test experiments and assist in the collection of data from various sensor modalities.
- Prepare comprehensive test reports detailing procedures, results, conclusions, and recommendations regarding the tested technology.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- 0-2 years of relevant engineering and technical experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Able to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to engage with clients effectively.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to various testing locations.
- Must be able to pass a DHS background investigation.
Desired:
- Degree in Engineering or related experience in electrical, computer, telecommunications, or systems engineering.
- Understanding of communication protocols and standards.
- Experience in designing and managing land mobile radio systems for first responders.
- Familiarity with network protocols, security protocols, and signal analysis.
- Experience with technical equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
- Ability to develop RF signal propagation models and conduct interference analysis.
- Knowledge of human factors and ergonomics, focusing on the interaction between humans and technology.
The target salary range for this position is $73,000 - $127,000. Final compensation will be determined based on various factors including skills, experience, education, and certifications.
