Job Title: Respiratory Therapist

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team in Oak Lawn, Illinois.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care to our patients. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will administer respiratory care procedures and modalities in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. You will work collaboratively with our healthcare team to create a safe and supportive environment for our patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer respiratory care procedures and modalities in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care venues.
  • Provide medication treatments and therapies per physician order and/or patient-driven respiratory protocols (PDRPs) as prescribed.
  • Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functionality of equipment.
  • Educate and instruct patients in purpose, technique, self-care, goal of therapy, and disease management.
  • Facilitate clinical problem-solving and collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients.
Requirements:
  • Respiratory Therapist certification (CRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) needs to be obtained within 45 days.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS) certification issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Specialist (NPS) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
