Job Summary

At Prisma Health, we're committed to delivering exceptional patient care. As a Patient Support Technician, you'll play a vital role in assisting our Registered Nurses to meet the basic needs of our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, washing hair, brushing teeth and hair, and washing hands.
  • Support patients with nutrition and feeding needs, including assisting with feeding, drinking, and setting up meal trays.
  • Help patients with ambulation, including dangling, walking, and implementing fall prevention measures under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
  • Meet patients' needs related to elimination, including assisting with using a bedside commode, bedpan, or urinal.
  • Accurately monitor inputs and outputs, and complete and document patient vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, heart rate, and oxygenation via pulse ox or ETC02.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of a Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, or Nursing Fundamentals course.
  • Previous nursing assistant, medical assistant, or related experience preferred.
  • One year hospital clerical experience preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Current CPR Heartsaver certification required.
  • Basic Life Support, Heartsaver certification, or higher preferred.
  • Candidates must successfully complete PrismaHealth unit secretary course and training within 90 days of hire.

Work Environment

Night shift, 5 Medical Park Rd Richland, 1510 Richland Hospital, Surgical Nursing - 7 E.
