Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Assistant Floor/Special Project Team to join our team at Children's National Medical Center. As a key member of our cleaning and sanitation team, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, families, and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize rooms and furnishings in assigned work areas, following established policies and procedures.
  • Use vacuum to clean carpets, and carpet extractor or bonnet buff to perform spot removal or clean carpets.
  • Report damaged carpets and floors and situations where stain removal cannot be done.
  • Mix, use, and dispose of floor care chemicals according to directions.
  • Clean and properly store floor equipment, operate cleaning equipment according to instructions, and report other mechanical failures to supervisor.
  • Wear personal protective equipment according to hospital guidelines, follow universal precautions, and use appropriate cleaning materials.
  • Report unsafe conditions in assigned work areas and observe isolation procedures.
  • Move furniture and equipment as directed, use good body mechanics, and perform room set-up and tear-down as directed for special events.
  • Complete project report of completed tasks during shift, attend weekly/monthly and annual mandatory departmental training sessions, and use pallet jack to move boxes from loading dock to stock supply room.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • 2 years Clearing/housekeeping experience (Preferred)
  • 2 years Floor care/special project experience (Preferred)
