School Health Specialist

Hamilton County Department of Education is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of our students and staff.
Job Summary:The School Nurse will be responsible for providing medical care and health services to students and staff, as well as promoting health education and wellness programs. This is a full-time position that requires a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care and a passion for working with students and staff.
Responsibilities:- Provide medical care and health services to students and staff, including administering medications, treating injuries, and providing first aid.
- Develop and implement health education programs to promote wellness and prevent illness.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to develop and implement health-related policies and procedures.
- Conduct health assessments and screenings to identify potential health issues.
- Develop and implement individualized health plans for students with special health needs.
- Provide health-related counseling and support to students and staff.
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records.
- Communicate with parents, guardians, and other healthcare providers as needed.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in school nursing.
- Master's degree in Nursing or related field.
- Current Tennessee RN license.
- Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience working in a school setting or with children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including mornings, afternoons, and occasional evenings.
