Baptist Health is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician Buyer to join our team at the new Central Pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities:- Order pharmaceuticals and supplies, maintaining adequate inventory controls.
- Purchase through the appropriate class of trade to meet contract compliance and financial budgets.
- Establish, implement, maintain, and manage a pharmacy purchasing system that ensures proper controls, checks, and balances are maintained.
- Maintain all purchase records, invoices, receipts, and inventory control records.
- Understand 340B implications for ordering and purchasing pharmaceuticals in accordance with requirements of the 340B Drug Pricing Program.
- Assist with receiving inventory into the centralized pharmacy services center.
- Take responsibility to reconcile any discrepancies identified between orders and shipments in a timely fashion.
- Reconcile and acknowledge/approve invoices and incoming credit memos.
- Establish relationships with vendor and manufacturer representatives to stay informed about new developments and available resources.
- Assist in identifying cost savings initiatives in procurement, pricing, and clinical initiatives.
- Identify and take action when processes can be improved to reduce waste, improve workflow, optimize inventory, and reduce drug expenses.
- Have control over inventory to ensure proper storage and rotation of all medications, removal of expired drugs, and return of any overstock of medications.
- Manage the pharmacy reverse distribution services.
- Manage product recalls, ensuring timely communication, record keeping, and follow-through.
- Keep informed of drug shortages, identify alternate sources for medications, and notify pharmacy management with status updates.
- Review purchasing analysis reports and update preferred NDC in automation software.
- Ensure negotiated contracts are effectively implemented through periodic audits of invoices.
- High school diploma or equivalency required.
- Minimum of 1 year of job-related experience.
- Current or eligible for Kentucky pharmacy technician registration by date of hire.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification within 6 months of hire.
- Completion of 340B University or Apexus certification within 1 year.
