Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician Specialist to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving pharmacy services for our assigned areas. You will work directly with our department pharmacists to prepare all chemotherapy products for our chemotherapy infusion unit and inpatient areas at the Medical Center.
Responsibilities- Assist pharmacists and other technicians to maintain an efficient medication distribution system to provide safe and efficient patient care.
- Prepare accurate and timely medications, including chemotherapy and potentially hazardous substances, utilizing aseptic techniques and pharmaceutical calculations.
- Operate and maintain specialized pharmacy equipment, including IV safety software, barcode software, Cadd Pump, and automated drug dispensing technology.
- Chart all scheduled maintenance to ensure sterility according to protocol.
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and terminal cleaning of the IV room.
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, and adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Current Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by the Board of Pharmacy in the state of practice.
- ASHP Sterile Product Preparation Certificate.
- ASHP Hazardous Product Preparation Certificate.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role, and keyboard.
- Skills to operate standard pharmacy and office equipment.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel throughout and between facilities.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including 24/7, weekend, holiday, and on-call availability.

The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
There is potential to encounter hazardous medications and hazardous waste.
