Position Overview
The Apprentice Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of cranes and heavy machinery. This role involves performing regular maintenance tasks, such as lubricating components, as well as diagnosing and resolving issues when equipment malfunctions. The Technician operates in a safety-oriented environment, ensuring compliance with safety protocols while working on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be available for on-call duties and provide after-hours support as necessary.
  • Diagnose, repair, inspect, and enhance industrial hoists and cranes at customer locations.
  • Conduct OSHA-mandated inspections of hoists and cranes, generating detailed inspection reports and repair documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Service Manager and Branch Manager to effectively schedule and complete daily tasks.
  • Utilize tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and responsibly, reporting any deficiencies to the supervisor.
  • Work effectively within a team environment.
  • Participate in company-sponsored training sessions and seminars as required.
  • Engage in the HCSG 5 Marks program.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Physical Requirements
This position involves physically demanding tasks. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally. The role requires frequent climbing, balancing, bending, and prolonged periods of standing or sitting. Occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crawling may also be necessary. Strong hand-eye coordination is essential, and working at heights exceeding 50 feet is a regular part of the job. Travel may be required (20-50%) and flexibility in working various shifts, including on-call and overtime, is expected.

Work Environment
Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors, subject to customer requirements, with exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions. During summer months, temperatures may exceed 120 degrees. Employees may encounter noise, heights, fumes, dust, and odors as part of their daily tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 0 - 2 years of experience with cranes in an industrial setting.
  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • A commitment to safe working and driving practices.
  • Willingness to work at various heights.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a vocational or technical training program.
  • Some knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and/or possession of personal hand tools.
