The Apprentice Technician plays a crucial role in the maintenance and repair of heavy machinery, specifically cranes. This position involves conducting routine upkeep, such as lubricating components, and addressing malfunctions when they arise. Safety is paramount in this role, as the Technician operates in a high-stakes environment. Hoist & Crane Service Group Inc. is committed to providing 24/7 service, requiring technicians to be available for on-call duties and after-hours support based on client needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be available for on-call duties and provide after-hours support as necessary.
  • Diagnose, repair, inspect, and enhance industrial hoists and cranes at customer sites.
  • Conduct OSHA-mandated inspections of hoists and cranes, generating detailed inspection reports and repair documentation.
  • Maintain communication with the Service Manager and Branch Manager to ensure daily tasks are scheduled and completed efficiently.
  • Safely operate tools, equipment, and vehicles, promptly reporting any deficiencies to the supervisor.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members in a cooperative work environment.
  • Participate in company-sponsored training sessions and seminars as required.
  • Engage in the HCSG 5 Marks program.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally. The role involves frequent climbing, balancing, bending, and prolonged periods of standing and sitting. Occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crawling may also be necessary. Excellent hand-eye coordination is essential, as is the ability to work at heights exceeding 50 feet. Travel may be required (20-50%) and flexibility in work shifts is expected to meet the needs of Hoist & Crane Service Group Inc. and its clients, including on-call and overtime work.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors, subject to customer requirements, with exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions. During peak summer months, temperatures may exceed 120 degrees. Technicians may encounter noise, heights, fumes, dust, and odors as part of their daily responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 0 - 2 years of experience with cranes in an industrial setting.
  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • A commitment to safe working and driving practices.
  • Willingness to work at various heights.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a vocational or technical training program.
  • Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and/or possession of personal hand tools.
