Job Overview

Position: Family Engagement Specialist

Salary: Starting at $15.76/hr with a High School Diploma, $16.69/hr with an Associate Degree, and $18.44/hr with a Bachelor’s Degree.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week for 38 weeks, and 24 hours per week for 11 weeks during summer.

Position Summary:

The Family Engagement Specialist plays a crucial role in empowering families through educational activities and social interactions that emphasize the importance of parental involvement in child development. This position assists families in gaining self-sufficiency by providing access to vital information, resources, and advocacy for their children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster positive relationships with families to encourage active participation in their children's educational journey.
  • Create a safe and nurturing environment during social activities that allows children to explore and learn under supervision.
  • Guide parents in developing and evaluating age-appropriate activities that enhance their child's physical and intellectual growth.
  • Support educational and social-emotional development to meet specific child outcome goals, recognizing each child's unique strengths.
  • Promote and implement current educational, social, and parenting curricula utilized by the organization.
  • Assist families in identifying their strengths and needs, facilitating growth and development through partnership agreements.
  • Incorporate nutrition and self-care practices into home visits and socialization events to encourage healthy habits in children.

Qualifications:

A High School diploma or GED is required; a degree in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Child & Family Development, or a related field is preferred. Experience in case management or teaching parenting skills is highly recommended. Candidates must have access to reliable transportation for home visits and be willing to obtain a Home Visitor CDA within the first nine months of employment. Successful completion of the DRDP Reliability Certification within six months is also required, along with obtaining FDC credentialing during the first available cohort after completing the Home Visitor CDA.
