Position Scope and Organizational Impact

The Solar Project Managers at Moss serve as the primary on-site administrative leaders, collaborating with Owners, Architects, and Subcontractors to ensure compliance with solar project requirements, including quality, schedule, and budget. They oversee daily contract administration, including subcontract negotiations, change request processing, monthly monetary draws, shop drawing reviews, and jobsite coordination meetings. Project Managers enforce safety program implementation and develop, monitor, and update project schedules while reviewing project costs to ensure adherence to approved budgets.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage preconstruction services by reviewing Owner's expectations and criteria, overseeing the entire preconstruction process through to GMP or Lump Sum contract.
  • Negotiate owner contracts, coordinate with design teams, establish programs to comply with MBE requirements, and review design documents.
  • Identify key subcontractors, promote and participate in partnering sessions, investigate sites, and identify long-lead items.
  • Develop bid packages, schedules, and site utilization plans; conduct pre-bid conferences, identify project staffing requirements, and provide value engineering ideas.
  • Manage project financials by developing a GMP or Lump Sum contract and maintaining continuous knowledge of jobsite expenditures.
  • Analyze the financial capability of subcontractors, prepare revenue projections, and manage cash flow.
  • Develop and maintain financial reports, set up project schedules of values, and prepare and process monthly owner requisitions.
  • Manage the change order process, assist in loss-control management, administer owner purchase programs, and enforce company bonding and insurance policies.
  • Study owner contracts, develop scopes of work, review budgets with estimating, develop purchasing schedules, obtain insurance and bonds, and mobilize on-site.
  • Prepare and distribute detailed project schedules, resource-loaded schedules, and look-ahead schedules.
  • Recruit jobsite staff, enforce company policy, provide professional development, conduct evaluations, and promote employee morale.
  • Administer document control RFI processes, prepare monthly reports, implement and report on the MBE program, develop crisis management plans, and maintain project management systems.
  • Manage field operations, conduct trade preconstruction meetings, coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and permit inspections, and maintain subcontractor relationships.
  • Implement safety and quality control programs, manage daily cleanup and rental equipment, and perform daily jobsite walks.
  • Promote client relations and interact regularly with owners, participating in client-promoted activities and complying with client needs.
  • Manage project closeout and post-construction services, obtain and deliver warranties, transfer Attic Stock, demobilize field operations, collect final payments, and close out subcontracts.
  • Participate in company-sponsored events, task team committees, industry-related organizations, and recruiting activities.
  • Engage in training programs, continuing education, seminars, and conferences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience as a Project Manager within the Solar/EPC construction industry.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with construction project management applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interface directly with owners' representatives, the A/E team, building departments, and other team members.
  • Strong leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, and the ability to build and maintain motivated teams.
  • Highly developed project management finance skills are required.
