Position Overview

Summary

This role is pivotal in assessing product, process, equipment, and methodology challenges at critical phases of product development and manufacturing. You will lead initiatives aimed at mitigating costs linked to subpar quality while striving to enhance product adherence to specified standards and optimizing manufacturability. The position relies on established protocols and guidelines to execute job functions effectively.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Formulating and implementing standards and methodologies for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Planning and executing analyses, inspections, designs, tests, and integrations to ensure the quality of assigned products or components.
  • Creating sampling procedures and designs.
  • Developing documentation and instructions for recording, assessing, and reporting quality and reliability metrics.
  • Establishing programs to assess the precision and accuracy of production and testing equipment.
  • Conducting quality engineering evaluations of design documentation to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Utilizing statistical process control (SPC) techniques to analyze data and assess current processes and modifications.
  • Reviewing all procured products or components and providing insights for acceptance decisions and future vendor selections.
  • Leading and fulfilling responsibilities related to customer-driven APQP, PPAP, and PFMEA processes.
  • Documenting data gathered during quality activities in accordance with company policies.
  • Innovating solutions to challenges identified during quality assessments.
  • Communicating significant findings or developments from quality activities and recommending process enhancements to management.
  • Preparing reports to convey involvement and outcomes of quality initiatives.
  • Presenting technical and programmatic information to team members and management.
  • Supervising technical and administrative personnel engaged in quality functions.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant government and industry quality standards and codes.
  • Being available daily, including evenings and weekends as necessary to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in a technical discipline such as manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in a QMS certified environment with systems like ISO 9001, AS9100, or QS 9000 is preferred.
  • Familiarity with quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, and PFMEA is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities are required.
  • Proficient computer skills are necessary; experience with MRP or ERP systems is preferred.
  • Experience or advanced knowledge of Access is desirable.
  • Ability to use measurement instruments such as calipers, indicators, and micrometers is essential.
  • Outstanding organizational skills; detail-oriented and proactive in managing projects and tasks.
