Claims Specialist Job Description

At Gerber Plumbing Fixtures, we are seeking a highly skilled Claims Specialist to join our team. As a Claims Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring all claims processing activities are accurate and processed in a timely manner. Your primary goal will be to provide exceptional customer service while managing claims from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Point of contact for all incoming claims received at location.
  • Review and evaluate claims and gather relevant documentation to support the claims investigation.
  • Engage with our third-party administrator (TPA) as specified in our claims administration protocol and procedures.
  • Prepare and revise Excel claims data reports as needed.
  • Correspond with claimants, insurance carriers, and TPA for additional claim documentation needed to investigate and process claims.
  • Work closely with all necessary departments to manage and appropriately resolve all claims.
  • Ensure claims entry into database is done on a daily basis.
  • Return claims-related emails, inquiries, and calls within 24 hours.
  • Work with the product support and quality control teams to manage and resolve smaller labor/installation claims.
  • Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as required.
  • Assist Sales Representatives and Customer Service Representatives in the handling and resolution of smaller, customer accommodation claims.
  • Ensure that claim files are updated in real-time with developments and documents.
  • Complete special projects as needed.
  • In the absence of the Risk Manager, forward newly-filed litigation to our TPA for handling.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years Professional Liability or General Liability insurance claims handling experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using an electronic Claims System/Claims Database.
  • Fluency in both the English and French Canadian languages (English as the primary language).
  • Previous experience with Oracle is preferred but not required.
  • Hardworking, action-oriented, and results-driven.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one interactions and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Willingness to cooperate and accept added responsibilities.
  • Ability to work well with all co-workers and manager.
