Position Summary:
APL is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to spearhead new, high-priority systems development initiatives within the strategic defense sector.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Systems Engineer, you will:
1. Lead diverse teams throughout the engineering lifecycle, from concept creation to requirements analysis and testing.
2. Collaborate with government teams to ensure that developed systems fulfill user requirements while minimizing program risks.
3. Provide on-site government support to maintain and guide technical direction.
4. Conduct analyses to influence system design and evaluate system performance.

About the Team:
The Nuclear Command Communications Systems Group (QKR) is composed of a talented mix of RF communications experts, systems engineers, software developers, data analysts, mathematicians, and technical leaders. We apply innovative solutions to real-world defense challenges and utilize analytical skills to assess the performance of Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) systems.

Qualifications:
You will meet our minimum qualifications if you possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related technical field.
- A minimum of ten years of relevant experience in a technical role focused on systems/software engineering, system design, and evaluation.
- Proven experience in applying system/software engineering principles to address complex challenges.
- Proficiency in algorithm development and analysis using programming languages such as MATLAB, C++, Java, or Python.
- The ability to proactively identify and create solutions for critical technical challenges.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with sponsors.
- Effective communication skills for technical discussions at all organizational levels.
- Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
- Eligibility for a TS/SCI level security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
You'll exceed our minimum requirements if you have:
- A Master's degree or PhD in a relevant technical field.
- At least fifteen years of experience in a technical role, including leadership experience.
- Experience working with Government and Military leadership, and presenting complex analyses.
- Familiarity with DoD or IC organizations.
- Extensive experience with classified programs.
- An active US Top Secret/SCI Security clearance.
