The Executive Director serves as the chief leader of the organization, responsible for guiding the mission and vision of the Luckiamute Watershed Council (LWC). This role is pivotal in establishing partnerships, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring that the programs reflect the core values of equity, inclusion, and accountability.
About the Organization
The Luckiamute Watershed Council is a collaborative group of volunteers dedicated to enhancing the ecological health of the watershed. Formed in 2001, the Council works with a diverse array of stakeholders, including local agencies, Tribal communities, and landowners, to promote projects that protect and improve natural resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Board Engagement: Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors to facilitate communication and inform decision-making processes.
- Strategic Planning: Lead the strategic planning process, regularly assessing the organization’s goals and ensuring effective implementation of projects.
- Organizational Administration: Oversee daily operations, ensuring compliance with legal obligations and fostering fiscal sustainability.
- Personnel Management: Direct and support staff recruitment, development, and retention, while promoting a culture of motivation and performance management.
- Resource Development: Secure funding through grants and partnerships, actively participating in fundraising initiatives.
- Budgeting and Finances: Manage budgeting and financial operations, providing oversight and accountability for resources.
- Community Relations: Build and maintain positive relationships within the community and among various stakeholders.
- Outreach: Guide staff in community outreach efforts, ensuring effective communication with landowners and stakeholders.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in nonprofit management, particularly in fundraising and natural resource management. Strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential. Bilingual abilities in Spanish are preferred.
