Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Manager in supervising daily operations within surgical services, encompassing the Operating Room, Surgical Procedure Unit, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, and Endoscopy.
- Oversee staff management, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective patient care while promoting collaboration across departments.
- Take on specific project duties as designated by the Surgical Services Manager.
Main Duties:
- Operational Management: Work alongside the Manager to identify and implement improvements in cost structures. Plan resource allocation and staffing, maintain a staff matrix, and ensure effective communication. Cultivate and sustain relationships with physicians to achieve financial objectives.
- Staff Oversight: Participate in recruitment and hiring processes, provide leadership, conduct performance reviews, address disciplinary matters, and manage staffing schedules. Organize staff meetings and support leadership initiatives.
- Quality Control: Create and revise unit policies and procedures, monitor adherence, supervise patient care delivery, and establish departmental goals. Address inter-departmental challenges and act as a specialty resource.
- Compliance: Prepare for local and inter-regional surveys, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
- Training and Development: Develop orientation programs for new hires, coordinate in-service training for surgical services, collaborate with educators on competency plans, and oversee training on new technologies or procedures.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of three years of clinical RN experience in Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Labor & Delivery, Cardiovascular Lab, or Gastrointestinal.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- License/Certification: State-specific Registered Nurse License, Basic Life Support certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years of clinical experience in Surgical Services.
- Prior leadership experience.
- CNOR certification.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related discipline.
Additional Information:
- Work schedule includes Monday through Friday with rotating weekend on-call duties.
- Clinical background in Operating Room preferred.
