Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Substance Use Disorder Counselor to join our mental health team. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with participants, staff, and leadership to provide comprehensive substance abuse treatment services.


Responsibilities

  • Administer and score standardized substance abuse screening and assessment instruments for all participants entering the department of corrections
  • Determine American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) based level of care based on assessment results
  • Provide various levels of substance abuse treatment based on screening and assessment results
  • Conduct individual counseling sessions and group counseling
  • Maintain clinical charts per Code of Maryland (COMAR) regulations and requirements
  • Complete discharge and aftercare plans
  • Participate in staffing regarding participants with other team members

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:



  • An Associate degree in Health and Human Services counseling field and an Alcohol and Drug Trainee (ADT) designation, or a Bachelor's degree in Health and Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field with Certified Associate Counselor Drug & Alcohol (CAC-AD) certification
  • Certification as an alcohol and drug counselor by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists
  • Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred
  • Ability to work a varied schedule that may include evenings
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with computers and necessary software

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $30.00 to $33.00 per hour, with a $2,500.00 sign-on bonus. Our comprehensive benefits package includes paid time off, paid holidays, 401(k) matching, health insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, health savings account, tuition reimbursement, employee discount, reduced tuition rates, disability insurance, employee assistance program, 401(k), pet insurance, and dental insurance.
