Job Title: Human Services Specialist V

Job Summary:

The Maryland Department of Human Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Services Specialist V to join our team. As a key member of our Child Support Administration, you will be responsible for leading and managing programs that provide economic support, preventive services, and caring for children and adults.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage programs that provide quality assurance and technical assistance to local offices and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and address program needs and challenges.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to local offices and stakeholders on program policies and procedures.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews and provide feedback to local offices and stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Eight years of experience in the administration of a human services program or experience conducting studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices, and organizations.
  • Four years of experience in the administration of a human services program or experience conducting studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices, and organizations, and an additional four years of professional or technical experience in the administration of a human services program or experience conducting studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices, and organizations.
  • Graduate level education at an accredited college or university in a human services related field at the rate of 30 credit hours per year for up to six years of the required experience.
  • U.S. Armed Forces military experience as a commissioned officer in Administrative Officer classifications or Administrative Officer specialty codes in the General, Administrative, Clerical, and Office Services field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of experience performing quality assurance in a human service program.
  • One year of experience in a child support administration program.
  • One year of experience using Microsoft Office Suite Word Suite computer software such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.
  • One year of experience with federal guidelines, technical eligibility policies, and standards.
Benefits:
  • Personal Leave - six (6) personnel days annually (prorated based on start date).
  • Annual Leave - ten (10) days of accumulated annual leave per year.
  • Sick Leave - fifteen (15) days of accumulated sick leave per year.
  • Parental Leave - up to sixty (60) days of paid parental leave upon the birth or adoption of a child.
  • Holidays - State employees also celebrate at least twelve (12) holidays per year.
  • Pension - State employees earn credit towards a retirement pension.
  • Positions may be eligible for telework.
