Job Title: Registered Nurse - PreOp/PACU

University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Preoperative and Post Anesthesia Care (PACU) department. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring a smooth transition for patients from the operating room to the recovery area.

Job Summary:
  • Assess and evaluate patients' physical and psychosocial health status in a timely and systematic manner.
  • Develop and implement individualized patient plans of care, taking into account patients' needs and preferences.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to identify potential barriers and variances to the plan of care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care transitions.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and maintain clinical competency through ongoing education and training.
Responsibilities:
  • Assess patients' physical and psychosocial health status, including vital signs and reassessments.
  • Develop and implement individualized patient plans of care, taking into account patients' needs and preferences.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to identify potential barriers and variances to the plan of care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care transitions.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and maintain clinical competency through ongoing education and training.
  • Administer medications and treatments as per physician orders and hospital policies.
  • Document patient information accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families to promote health and well-being.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a PreOp/PACU setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
