The Medical Assistant I, Certified provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers and teams in an outpatient setting. This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and certification as a Medical Assistant. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a medical setting and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities- Collect patient data, including vital signs, medical history, and medication lists.
- Assist providers with treatments, examinations, and procedures.
- Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy.
- Administer medications under provider direction.
- Perform tests, such as EKGs and eye exams, under provider direction.
- Review patient records for routine health screenings.
- Prepare and maintain exam and treatment rooms.
- Assist with patient registration, scheduling, and referrals.
- Answer clinic phones and assist with in-basket tasks.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical Assistant certification from a recognized organization.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Prior medical assistant experience preferred.
This role is based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and is part of the UNC Health Care System. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and provide excellent patient care.
