Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Engineer to join our team at OSI Group. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all engineering, project, and maintenance activities for our plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate the design, layout, installation, and maintenance of building, building support systems, and production equipment in a cost-effective manner.
  • Develop and implement general project and maintenance schedules to ensure efficient plant operations and around-the-clock maintenance services.
  • Establish and communicate targets for measuring department efficiency, including down-time, repair costs, parts costs, inventory levels, labor hours, etc.
  • Identify and negotiate with vendors for construction projects, maintenance supplies, outside services, and other needs.
  • Research and recommend improvements to building, utilities, processes, and plant equipment to reduce costs, improve product quality, and enhance efficiencies.
  • Provide technical assistance to production departments and diagnose and recommend solutions to eliminate production problems and improve operating effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant records relating to maintenance work, equipment, engineering, research, purchasing, and regulatory agency contacts.
  • Monitor utilities usage and implement procedures to minimize costs.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Manager to develop capital appropriation budgets and provide input on engineering, purchasing, and installation requirements for capital projects.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to improve processes within the organization and assist other company facilities as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, governmental, safety, and environmental considerations.
Requirements
  • 5-10 years of experience in a related field.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Expert-level knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to construction, maintenance, and operation of a manufacturing facility and its equipment.
  • Ability to create, read, and analyze blueprints, schematics, and similar documentation.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations and related operational best practices.
  • Ability to manage complex installation and modification projects involving major capital expenditures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers, management, and external contacts.
  • Ability to supervise and manage the work of others to achieve established goals and objectives.
Education

BA/BS or equivalent is preferred.

Work Environment

This role will be performed within a manufacturing plant environment with noise, extreme temperatures, and significant movement of powered equipment, people, and conveyor. The position may require physical agility, including lifting up to 50 pounds, and frequent or infrequent bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, stretching/reaching, and standing/walking on concrete flooring.
